From hailstorm to high life
Bodrum started with chaos.
A violent hailstorm hit us somewhere near Muğla while we were hitchhiking, completely unprepared, soaked within minutes, laughing because the situation was honestly too absurd to take seriously. Once we decided to travel this way, giving up was never an option.
We split into two teams . Ola Dobi and me took one ride while a group of newly met Polish travelers caught another. Their journey was smooth and easy. Ours? A complete disaster. One driver dropped us in the middle of nowhere during the storm with giant raindrops and hail crashing around us. Finding another car felt impossible. Then came the second ride – fine at first, until the driver started speeding like crazy and eventually left us in total isolation again.
But somehow, the third car changed everything. The driver took us all the way to Bodrum and we got along so well that we spontaneously invited him to join us at the club we were heading to that night.
And honestly? That club felt unreal. It looked like something straight out of a movie about the lives of millionaires. You entered the venue in golf cars and everything around us felt elegant, luxurious, almost surreal. We put on our best outfits and danced until sunrise. I truly recommend Scorpios, it’s definitely an unforgettable place.
The main reason we wanted to go there was the DJ Dixon, he exceeded every expectation. I can’t even remember the last time club music made me feel that alive. The energy, the atmosphere, the people, everything felt magical. What fascinated me most was the crowd around us. Everyone looked effortlessly glamorous, rich, beautiful, like they belonged on the cover of a luxury magazine. But surprisingly, I felt completely comfortable there. For one night, it felt like stepping into another reality and I loved every second of it.

The second day in Bodrum felt slow, warm, beautifully effortless. We spent hours wandering along the coastline, stopping at the bazaar to taste fresh lokum, coffee in hand while the sea sparkled beside us. Somewhere along the waterfront, we sat down for an incredibly delicious menemen in one of the small seaside restaurants Mahfel Cafe, enjoying the kind of morning that makes you forget about time completely.
The afternoon was filled with simple pleasures. Laying on the beach under the sun, followed by a sleepy balcony nap with the sound of the city slowly fading in the background. Later, we went for lahmacun at our favorite local restaurant Yeni Bodrum Ocakbasi, one of those places that already started to feel familiar after only a few days.
The most unforgettable part of the day was an incredibly inspiring Couchsurfing meetup that somehow gave all of us a little more perspective on life. We met amazing people, a photographer, a ship captain and a man traveling along the Turkish coastline on his motorcycle. Together, we watched one of the most beautiful sunsets we had ever seen, sitting on the beach, eating ice cream, laughing, sharing stories, and talking about life, freedom, and travel while the sky slowly turned gold and pink.
On Sunday, we took things easy and enjoyed every final moment before heading back home. We spent the morning on the balcony eating the best simit with cheese and fresh tomatoes, sweet watermelon, and drinking iced coffee under the warm sun. Simple moments that somehow felt perfect.
Later, we took one last walk along the coastline, watching the sea and quietly saying goodbye to the beach before starting our journey back home. And once again, Turkey reminded me why I love traveling here so much. We found a ride with two amazing guys, one German with Turkish roots and the other Turkish. They were unbelievably kind. They offered us ice cream, laughed with us the entire way and even changed their route just to drive us directly to Muğla.
That’s what I love most about adventures in Turkey. No matter how unexpected or chaotic the journey becomes, I always end up meeting beautiful people with beautiful hearts. From hailstorms and getting lost in the middle of nowhere to luxury clubs, seaside mornings, inspiring conversations, sunsets on the beach, and strangers becoming part of the story. Bodrum gave us one of those trips that stays with you forever. God bless all the beautiful souls we met along the way.
