Jak dowiedzieli\u015bmy si\u0119 p\u00f3\u017aniej, ka\u017cdy z wyznaczonych przez nas punkt\u00f3w mia\u0142 totalnie inny vibe. Tym razem przechadzali\u015bmy si\u0119 po kanionie H\u00f6f\u00f0i \u00fats\u00fdni 2<\/a>, otulonym jesiennymi kolorami czerwieni, pomara\u0144czu i \u017c\u00f3\u0142ci. Niesamowite formacje skalne i wodne wygl\u0105da\u0142y tak, jakby w\u0142a\u015bnie budzi\u0142y si\u0119 z d\u0142ugiego snu. By\u0142o to miejsce, kt\u00f3re zdecydowanie wyr\u00f3\u017cnia\u0142o si\u0119 na tle pozosta\u0142ych atrakcji.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nast\u0119pnie dotarli\u015bmy do jednej z moich ulubionych atrakcji, wulkanu Hverfjall<\/a>. Na zdj\u0119ciach Google nie wygl\u0105da\u0142 zbyt zach\u0119caj\u0105co, ale na \u017cywo? Petarda! \u015awietne miejsce na spacer. Czarny, wulkaniczny krajobraz, a na nim mocno jaskrawe, s\u0142oneczne kolory. Ten kontrast wydawa\u0142 si\u0119 wr\u0119cz nienaturalny. Widoki z g\u00f3ry by\u0142y jak z kosmosu. By\u0142o wietrznie i wymagaj\u0105co, ale w\u0142a\u015bnie dlatego wej\u015bcie na g\u00f3r\u0119 da\u0142o nam jeszcze wi\u0119cej satysfakcji. Hengifoss, kanion i urokliwe miasteczka<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ostatniego dnia, z samego rana, odwiedzili\u015bmy szlak hikingowy prowadz\u0105cy do wodospadu Hengifoss<\/a>. Ca\u0142a trasa zaj\u0119\u0142a nam oko\u0142o dw\u00f3ch godzin. Podczas w\u0119dr\u00f3wki mo\u017cna podziwia\u0107 ma\u0142e i du\u017ce wodospady, ska\u0142y w r\u00f3\u017cnych odcieniach czerwieni oraz przepi\u0119kn\u0105 islandzk\u0105 natur\u0119. Trasa nie nale\u017cy do naj\u0142atwiejszych, szczeg\u00f3lnie gdy w twarz dmucha bardzo silny wiatr. Taki wysi\u0142ek zawsze si\u0119 jednak op\u0142aca! Pot i energia zu\u017cyte podczas w\u0119dr\u00f3wki przek\u0142adaj\u0105 si\u0119 na cudowne prze\u017cycia i wspomnienia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jako wisienk\u0119 na torcie ca\u0142ej wyprawy wybrali\u015bmy kanion Stu\u00f0lagil<\/a>. Niebieska niczym turkus woda otacza\u0142a tam zadziwiaj\u0105ce formacje skalne. Kolejne kroki za nami, kolejne niezwyk\u0142e widoki zapisane w pami\u0119ci.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Na zako\u0144czenie dnia odwiedzili\u015bmy H\u00fasav\u00edk<\/a>, miasteczko znane z islandzkiego filmu \u201eEurovision\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To urocza, nadmorska miejscowo\u015b\u0107 z przepi\u0119knym wybrze\u017cem i niewielkim ko\u015bcio\u0142em protestanckim. Zatrzymali\u015bmy si\u0119 na godzinny spacer, a przy okazji mo\u017cna tam r\u00f3wnie\u017c odwiedzi\u0107 muzeum morskie lub muzeum zwi\u0105zane z filmem \u201eEurovision Song Contest”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dzie\u0144 zako\u0144czyli\u015bmy zachodem s\u0142o\u0144ca w Akureyri i zakupami w B\u00f3nusie. I tak dobieg\u0142a ko\u0144ca nasza islandzka objazd\u00f3wka! Road Trip Iceland 2026 \ud83c\uddee\ud83c\uddf8<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Day 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diamond Circle, from waterfalls to volcanic landscapes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before starting our first Icelandic road trip, we decided to begin the adventure in the best possible way with a visit to Forest Lagoon (Sk\u00f3garb\u00f6\u00f0in)<\/a>, a geothermal bathing spot just outside Akureyri. And honestly? What an experience. There is something incredibly special about sitting in steaming-hot geothermal water while surrounded by Icelandic nature. And just when we were completely relaxed and enjoying the warmth, it started to rain. Being completely soaked and sitting in such hot water while rain was falling around us felt almost unreal. It was one of those moments when you think: Okay, this is exactly why I came to Iceland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After our little geothermal adventure, we were ready to start the actual road trip. Our rented car was packed to the brim with everything we might possibly need, we had a positive attitude, and we were off!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For our first day, we planned to explore several attractions along the Diamond Circle. We had a whole day of incredible, breathtaking places ahead of us. Our first stop was Go\u00f0afoss<\/a>. It is one of the most powerful waterfalls in Iceland, and seeing it up close was quite an experience. The roads leading there were almost completely empty, narrow, one-lane roads surrounded by majestic mountains. Detifoss made a huge impression on us. The water looked like an incredibly powerful force of nature. Swimming there would definitely be my last swim ever!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We took some pictures, walked around the area and continued towards our next stop Sk\u00fatusta\u00f0ir Crater. <\/a>We even managed to find free parking here, which in Iceland is not always something you can take for granted. To be honest, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this stop. Apart from the beautiful, fluffy sheep grazing on the slopes, the crater itself wasn’t anything particularly spectacular for us. This is definitely one place you could skip if you’re short on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third place turned out to be completely different from the previous ones. As we discovered later, every stop we had planned had a totally different vibe. This time, we wandered through H\u00f6f\u00f0i \u00fats\u00fdni 2 Canyon<\/a>, surrounded by autumn colours, shades of red, orange and yellow. The incredible rock formations looked almost as if they were waking up from a long sleep. It was a completely different side of Iceland and I loved it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next came one of my favourite attractions of the day Hverfjall volcano<\/a>. It didn’t look particularly exciting in the Google photos, but in real life? Absolutely amazing! It was a great place for a walk. Dark volcanic landscapes covered in bright, almost unreal colours created a contrast that looked almost unnatural. The views from the top felt like something from another planet. It was windy and quite challenging, but that made reaching the top even more satisfying. Definitely one of those places that stays in your memory for a long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We kept moving because time was running out! That day, we also visited Hverir<\/a>, an extremely smelly geothermal area filled with steam, bubbling mud and grey, clay-like ground that looked almost like a giant face mask. I had never experienced such a strong smell of sulphur before. After just 30 minutes of walking around, I felt like scrambled eggs. It was an experience from another planet, with a vibe straight out of the third season of Dark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tired but definitely satisfied, we finally headed to our accommodation. We had dinner and finally got some well-deserved rest in comfortable beds. So many completely different landscapes in one day made me feel incredibly grateful that I could experience all of this with my own eyes and on my own skin. That I had the strength to climb volcanoes, walk around waterfalls and explore all these incredible places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diamond Beach, black sand and ice giants<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next morning, we woke up still thinking about the previous day’s adventure. Then we set off on a long journey towards Diamond Beach<\/a>. We had around six hours of driving ahead of us! Along the way, we drank coffee, tried some Icelandic products and, of course, enjoyed the views through the car windows. At one of the petrol stations, we even ran into Krzysztof from Love Is Blind, who was there with his new girlfriend. You really never know what you might encounter on an Icelandic road trip! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sun was shining, and not a single drop of rain fell from the sky. We couldn’t have asked for better weather for such a long drive. Our next stop was the beautiful Glanni Waterfalloss, where we had a little picnic. It was such a cool experience! Of course, we also had another little photo session before getting back on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After several more hours of driving, we finally reached Diamond Beach. The first attraction after entering was a Viking village. To be completely honest, it turned out to be a bit of a tourist trap. Luckily, we soon discovered that the real magic was somewhere else, the actual black-sand beach. The sand was incredibly clean, and there were all kinds of interesting stones scattered along the shore, as well as jellyfish that had washed up from the ocean. The beach itself was truly unique, with a huge, beautiful mountain in the background. We did cartwheels, ran around the beach and, of course, had another photo session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it turned out this was only the beginning of something even more incredible. Just a few kilometres further, we saw enormous glaciers. Each one had a completely different shape and size. Some looked as if they were slowly melting away, while others stretched far into the freezing water. The contrast between the black sand and these enormous ice giants was absolutely fascinating. I had never seen anything like it before. Standing there, I felt even more connected to Iceland. It was also one of those moments when I genuinely realised that coming here had been the right decision for me. We ended our day watching the sunset right next to the glacier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is one of those experiences that simply cannot be described properly with words. You have to be there. You have to see it with your own eyes and feel it for yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, seriously, come to Iceland! \ud83c\uddee\ud83c\uddf8<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomorrow would be our final day of the road trip, another journey deeper into this incredible land and, in a way, a little deeper into ourselves too.<\/p>\n\n\n

Day 3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charming Icelandic towns<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On our last day, we started early and headed for the hiking trail leading to Hengifoss waterfall<\/a>. The whole hike took us around two hours. There is free parking at the beginning of the trail. Throughout the hike, you can see both small and large waterfalls, rocks in different shades of red and, of course, Iceland’s incredible nature. The trail isn’t the easiest, especially when a very strong wind is blowing directly into your face. But this kind of effort is always worth it. The sweat, tired legs and energy spent during the hike somehow turn into the best memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the cherry on top of our entire trip, we chose Stu\u00f0lagil Canyon<\/a>. The turquoise-blue water surrounded incredible rock formations, creating another landscape that looked almost unreal. Another place checked off the list. Another incredible memory to take home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To finish the day, we visited H\u00fasav\u00edk<\/a>, a town known from the Icelandic film Eurovision. It’s a charming seaside town with a beautiful coastline and a small Protestant church. We stopped there for about an hour to walk around, and if you have more time, you can also visit the maritime museum or the museum connected with Eurovision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We ended the day watching the sunset in Akureyri and doing some shopping at B\u00f3nus. And just like that, our Icelandic road trip came to an end. So many kilometres. So many completely different landscapes. So many incredible places and memories that will stay with us for a very long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
